CPUID HWMonitor is a free hardware monitoring program that reads the PC system’s main health via sensors chips like the ITE IT87 series, Winbond ICs, and others.
HWMonitor displays accurate readings about PC voltage, temperature, power, clock speed, hard disk temperature, and GPU temperature. This hardware monitor shows maximum, normal, and minimum CPU and GPU temperatures.
HWMonitor Download latest version 1.46 for Windows. Works with both 32/64bit versions of Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.

The program also reads modern CPUs on-die core thermal sensors, as well as hard drives temperature via S.M.A.R.T, and video card GPU temperature.
While running this free CPU temperature monitoring tool you can instantly see voltages, temperature, power consumption, Utilization, Main-board Voltages, Fan speed, GPU Voltage, HDD temperature, Read CPU’s on-die core thermal sensors, Handel’s ITE IT87 series, most Win-bond ICs, and others.
This app displays vital information about your PC temperatures so that it helps to keep an eye on every activity performed on your Computer.
HW Monitor software gathers data via sensor chips placed on every motherboard.
In addition, it can read modern CPUs on-die core thermal sensors, as well as hard drive temperature via S.M.A.R.T, and video card GPU temperature.
Monitor PC fan speed
Monitor your CPU and GPU fan speed including its RPM and PWM. You can see the real-time fluctuation of fans’ RPM instantly.
However, This is not a PC fan speed controller software. You can only check readings, but you cannot manually control your PC fan speed.
If a program you’re interested in that gives you the ability to manually control the fan speed then you should at least give SpeedFan a try.
SpeedFan can change fan speeds according to system temperatures.
Doesn’t have an alert feature
The downfall of using this PC temperature monitoring tool is, it does not detect readings that are outside the norm.
HWMonitor is not designed in a way that automatically alerts you if anything goes wrong on your PC. You just have to keep an eye on things yourself.
Another drawback is that it is not a system tray app. When you minimize this tool it doesn’t add up in your tray, so you have to open this tool each time you want to check your PC temps.
Supports Core Temperature & CPU Temperature
AMD processors usually display Core Temperature instead of CPU Temperature and they can display both temperatures at the same time
The readings are more accurate because it detects CPU Temp which is an actual temperature and is more accurate at low temp but less at high.
Usually, BIOS shows CPU temperature which differs from other programs like core temp.
On the other hand, Core temp is an arbitrary scale measure temperature in degrees and Celsius. Which is more accurate when the CPU gets hot.
What are the Best HWMonitor Alternatives?
This is not the only PC temperature monitor available online. If it doesn’t suit your taste, then there are other free reliable tools to monitor CPU and GPU temperatures. They are equally reliable, easy to use, and show accurate readings by accessing thermal sensors. Core Temp, HWInfo64, AIDA64 are the tools that you can find to monitor CPU temperature.
This is not a real-time temperature monitoring tool because it doesn’t add up in the system tray upon minimizing the program. You need to open it each time you want to see the real temps of your CPU but you may find this feature in the core temp utility.
In addition, if you want a tool that you can use to control the PC fan speed manually, then SpeedFan, Afterburner, NZXT Cam, and Asus AI Suite 3 are the best fan speed controller software to try on your PC.
Is HWMonitor Pro Free?
HWMonitor Pro version offers extra options such as Remote Monitoring, Improved Interface & Fan control options, Graphics Generator, system tray option, creating logs, relabeling sensors, and giving them different colors.
CPUID offers a standard and extended version license key which will cost you $19.95 and $34.95 respectively.
The standard license gives you unlimited usage duration, one-year unlimited updates (starting at the purchase date), Up to 10 remote connections.
The extended license gives you unlimited usage duration, two years free unlimited updates (starting at the purchase date), Up to 20 remote connections.
Is HWMonitor safe?
Yes, CPUID HWMonitor is 100% safe and there’s no risk associated with using the program on your computer, so it’s perfectly safe to use it.
Is HWMonitor Temperature Readings are Accurate?
As for accuracy, this tool gathers temperature readings via sensors placed on processors. So if the data is not reliable, it’s not really HWMonitor’s fault, but your sensors’
This tool gathers temperature readings via sensors placed on processors. If you think that the data it showed is inaccurate then it’s not this programs’ fault, Rather it’s your CPU sensor’s fault.
Can HWMonitor change fan speed?
The HWMonitor free version can’t control CPU fan speed. It only displays the current CPU RPM, but it can’t allow you to change the CPU fan speed.
However, If you want to control fan speed you can upgrade to HWMonitor Pro version or try using third-party software i.e Argus Monitor, SpeedFan, MSI Afterburner.
